Animal Testing / Usage

Does NEOSTRATA® test on animals?

At NEOSTRATA®, we do not conduct animal testing in the research or development of our cosmetic products. We believe that our cosmetic products can be validated as safe and effective without compromising animal welfare. There are some countries that still require animal testing data to approve new cosmetic products for sale. We will continue to advocate for the acceptance of non-animal testing methods and support efforts to eliminate the testing of cosmetic products or ingredients on animals globally.

Does NEOSTRATA® use animal products in their assortment?

NEOSTRATA® of Canada does not use raw materials derived from "specific risk materials" of animals, including cows (bovine) or other ruminants and, therefore, there is no Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) risk. In addition, NEOSTRATA® does not use any ingredients derived from sheep (ovine), pigs (porcine), or goats (caprine).

NEOSTRATA® of Canada, Inc. may use certain ingredients that are produced by animals, for example, beeswax (produced by bees), lanolin (found in the wool of sheep) and lactobionic acid (an oxidized form of cow’s milk sugar/lactose). In addition, we use N-acetyl glucosamine (derived from the shells marine animals) and collagen (marine derived from the skin/scales of fish), both of which are a bi-product of the food industry. There is no risk of BSE transmission from these materials as well.

Are NEOSTRATA® products gluten-free?

NEOSTRATA® products do not contain gluten. However, our products are manufactured at shared facilities and we can’t guarantee a gluten-free environment. If you are very sensitive to gluten, speak with your physician and consider testing a small test spot on your body.

Pregnancy

Can I use these products if I am pregnant?

There are no known safety concerns with using cosmetic products during pregnancy. However, we recommend that all pregnant and lactating women, or those currently planning to become pregnant, seek the advice of their physician if there are specific concerns regarding use of skincare products. In addition, NEOSTRATA® of Canada recommends discontinuing use of its products containing OTC treatments for acne and psoriasis, as well as products containing high levels of retinol and chemical peels during pregnancy and lactation, unless recommended by a physician.
